CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE, The Corn Exchange reports for the week ending Thursday evening, the 7th in»t. A fair business in the grain trade has liaan done during the week. The rail deliveries have been heavy, and country sheds should now be fnir’y well cleared, as the threshing operations have been considerably retarded by the want of sacks, which are now overdue by Sir Robt, Sale. Shipping orders have been brisk and the markets generally have had a hardening tendency. Wheat, in spite of the unfavorable cab'es from Loudon, has a hardening tendency, Tuscan, in prime condition, is wanted for orders at 3s 5d to 3s 5Jd ; pearl also is in good demand at 3s 5d ; hnnters is more plentiful at-3s 4i to 3s 4£d; second quality is not sought after so eagerly at 3s to 3s 3d ; chickeu wheat (whole) is wanted at 2s lOd to 3s, and broken at 2a 8d to 2d,

Barley— Malsters are more disposed to do business, and prime parcel* are quickly taken at from 3 s 4d to 3s 7d ; second quality has been largely taken up for Melbourne orders, and now commands 2a lOd to 3s 2d ; feed is not being dealt with in quantities. Beans —A good many hare found buyers at 2s 10d to 3s, but buyers m limited. Peas—True Prussian Blues are not plentiful, and readily fetch from 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; mixed anti broken samples are offering freely at 2s 9d to 3s j feed sorts vary from 2s 8d to 2s lOd, Ryegrass and Cocksfoot—Rather an improved tone has been noticeable, but last week’s prices are unaltered. Potatoes—Bales for forward delivery have been mode at 27s 6d at country stations, but the market at present is unsettled.

Dairy Produce-No alteration in prices, with but a weak demand.

CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKETS. At the Addington yards on Wednesday, large entries of sheep and moderate entries of cattle were yarded for the day’s sale, the attendance of buyers and others being about an at? average one. ' Fat Cattle—The fat cattle were all of medium weights, the demand being dull. Steers sold et from £4 5s to £5; heifers and fat cows at from £3 15s to £6 10s, being from 16s to 18s per 1001 b, according to (he quality. Store Cattle—Steers sold at from £3 5s to £3l7s 6d per bead, A small line of two-year-old heifers fetched £2 5s per head, a few dry cows fetched from 40s to 47a 6d per head. Dairy Stock The enquiry was again pretty good. The best of the springers fetched from £lO to £9 5* per bead, ordinary sorts from £4 to £5 10s.

Sheep—A large number of fat sheep ware yarded, (he quality on the whole anything but good, there being but few really good lines of mutton in the yard*. Values gave way about 6d per head. The best of the wethers sold at from 7s to 8s per head ; mixed ewes and wethers, 5a 9d to 7b 5d ; good crossbred ewes, 5s to 6s 3d ; inferior awes, 3s 6d to 4s 6d, being for the best qualify about l|d per lb, down to about |d per lb for inferior sorts. Store Sheep—A line of four-tooth crossbred wethess fetched from 4s to 4* 9d ; lines of four-tooth ewes, 3s 6d to 4s; a line of crossbred lambs, 2s _to 2s 6d ; and crossbred ewes for boiling down, from 2a to 3s 3d per head. Fat Lambs—Demand pretty fair ; best sorts sold at from 4s 9d to 5s 2d ; medium sorts, 2s 6d to 3s 9d. Pigs —The number of pigs yarded wa* not large ; the demand also showed a falling off. Porkers sold at from 16s to 26a 6d; good stores, 17s to 245; small stores, 4s to 7e 6d.
