THE JUBILEE CELEBRATION.

At Timam on Tuesday evening, at a meetiDg of the Jubilee Committee, after a lot of discussion, the following resolution was passed :—."That an ornamental fountain be erected (in accordance with the amount subscritad) in some suitable place, the site and design to be determined by the Committee, the foundation Htone to be laid on the Jubilee day with ceremony ; that a sub-committee consisting of Archdeacon Harper, Messrs Perry and Dawson be asked to draw up a suitable address, the same to be engrossed by Mr G. W. Wade, and afterwards forwarded to Her Most Gracious Majesty." At Hokitika ihe founding and endowment of an Old Men's Borne is favored in connection with the -jubilee celebration. At Christchnrch the general committee of the Jubilee celebration has reversed the decision of the sub-committee in favor of a statue, and carried, by 35 votes to 20, the proposal to found a Home for the Aged Poor. As a means of celebrating the yueen's Jubilee the Dunodin City Council decided on Tuesday night night lo draw up and forward an address through the Governor; to illuminate the Town Hall on the 21st J une ; and to expend £2710s on fireworks and pyrotechnical display, to be under the charge of the Fire Brigade.
