GERALDINE RIFLES. A Government Inspection Parade of this company took placs on Tuesday night, i Major Moon being ths inspecting officer. Staff Sergt.-Major Jones was also present. The men to the number of 32 having beta 1 inspected, were put through a couple of hoan’ , guard mounting, sad posting and relieving sentries, under ths superintendence of Bergt.* 1 Major Jones. At ths conclusion of the drill Ospt. Pear* | paint informed the corps that he intended | to hold a camp this year on the same site as , the last one, and he hoped that as many ss ( possibly could attend would do so and strive , to make it a success. They would go into camp on Friday week, April Ist. The ■ orders for the Pareora Easter Encampment , were not yet out, but ai Boon as they were he would post them on the notice board, and he hoped everyone would make themselves < acquainted with them. * The annual meeting of the corps was then - held, Oaptain Pearpoint in the chair. Tho I minntee of the last meeting were read and ( confirmed. The secretary read tho balance* ( sheet, which showed a debit balance of £f. j It was considered highly satisfactory by \ all present. , On the motion of Private T. Sherrafct, seconded by Sergeant T. Millard, the balance ( sheet wae passed as read. Oaptain Pearpoint then brought forward the question of subse iptions. He said there was over £B3 owing for subscriptions and uniforms, and as several of the members had left the district without paying their dnei he would ask some one to propose that they be summoned. .. 1 It was decided, on th* proposition of I Private Logan, seoonded by Private T. Sher* ( rat, to write to defaulters onee more, and that if no satisfactory reply were received they be enmmoned without delay. _ 1 Captain Pearpoint stated that the erection of a trapese horizontal bar, etc., and the { procuring of single sticks, boxing gloves, etc., had been mooted lately, and he should like to know the wishes of the meeting on the subject. It was unanimously decided to recommend the incoming Committee to procure the necessary articles at once The priee of overcoats having been discussed, several of the members signified their intention of getting them before the Easter encampment. On the proposition of Oaptain Pearpoint, seconded by Lient. K. McKenzie,. a hearty vote of thanks and a bonus of £1 Is was passed to the Hon. Secretary, Sergeant A. Erskine, as a slight recognition of the manner in which he had earned out his duties. Ths following Committees were then ap* pointed for the present year Finance Committee—-Captain Pearpoint, Sergeant Erskine, and Privates T. Sherratt and Kalengher. General Committee—Captain Pearpoint, Lientenanti McKenzie and Ward, Sergeant Erskine, Privates Kalaugher, Patrick, and Sherratt, A vote of thanka to the chairman terminated the meeting. TEMUKA VOLUNTEERS, A Government Inspection Parade of the Temnka volunteers was held last evening, at wHich 32 of the Temnka Rifles and 84 of the Temnka Cadets were present. The inspection was conducted by Major Newall, after which both corps were put through two hours' battalion drill. Both the men and the boys behaved very well, and moved very steadily. At the eloee Major Newall said that Colonel Bailey would have been present only that he had to attend a Military Court at Napier. He hoped the Temnka Rifles wonld turn np well at the encampment, and be would be qb)» to bold them np as an example to other corps, as he 1 had often done before.
