WESLEYAN MISSION AT TEMUKA.
On Sunday last the Volunteer Hall was well ailed with an attentive audience. In the morning Mrs Smalley gave an exposition of the gospel in Ezekiel. The Connexions! evangelist thao proceeded to explain Christian sanctification, and plainly showed how the human heart might become “ whiter than snow.” At the close of this impressive address several came to the enquiry-room for further instruction, Mr Smalley took charge of the afternoon service. He gave a beautiful ’ object lesson, by which he explained the power of habitual sin, and the need for the Lord Jesus to become our true Deliverer, not only by pardoning our sias, but also freeing us from them.. A large number of children crowded into the enquiry-room, and the evangelist further addressed them there. At the evening service the Hail was crowded with people. The lady evangelist; spoke most fittingly and convincingly from Our Lord’s state* ment ; “ Heaven and earth shall pass away, bilt My words shall not pass away.” The Rev. J. S. Smalley and Mrs Smalley gave short addresses at the after-meeting. A third meeting was held and quite a large number stayed to this. Last evening Mr Smalley delivered.a forcible address on “ Why God does not kill the Devil, and why everybody is not converted.” The Hall was well filled.
The lady evangelist gives the principal address to-night (Tuesday), and Me Smalley intends to deal with the subject of amusements, with the title of “Sunken Rocks,” on Wednesday Zoning. He also intimated that there would would ha on Thursday afternoon, at 3 o’clock, a women’s meetiug, Mrs Smalley to giro the address, and on Thursday evening there will be a monster temperance meeting, when he hoped to obtain the services of the Band.
