DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS.

The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday * — Eat Cattle--The market was glutted, no fewer than 308 head being yarded. There are only a few of this number which would pass for prime beef, very great proportion being medium and coarse. Bidding was dull. Best bullocks brought £7 10a to £8 15s, one pen £9 12s 6d ; ordinary to good, £4 5s to £7 5s ; cows £3 2s 6d to £5 JOs.—b. Maclean sold for the. executors of the late Mr Studholme (Waiimte Estate,) 12 bullocks from £6 17s 6d to £8 ss; for Messrs M’Qoverin and Hardie (Hook, Waimate), 8 bollocks from £5 5s to £5 10s.— Donald Reid and Co. sold for M’Goverin and Hardy (The Hook, Wain/ate), 8 small bullocks at £5 ss. Fat Sheep-2353 were penned, nearly all crossbred, chiefly ewes, representing all qualities. Competition was fairly active. Best crossbred wethers brought 6s 9d to 8s ; medium, 5s 3d to 6s6d ; best medium ewes, 5« 9d to 6s 9d ; medium ewes, 3s 3d to 5s 6d ; two pens merino wetli rs, 4s,—L. Maclean sold for the executors of the late Mr M. Studholme (Waimate estate) 70 crossbred ewes at 5s 3d to 6s 6d, and 84 merinos at 4s.— Wright, Stephenson and Co. sold for Mr John Douglas (Waihao Downs), bred ewes at from 5s 6d to 5s 9d ; for Mr Rickman (Waimate), 129 Shropshire Down ewes at from 5s 6d to 12s. Eat lambs—4Bo were penned, as usual varying much in quality. Prices ringed from 3s 3d to 7s 6d. Horse Market. Wright, Stephenson and Co. quote first-class heavy draughts at from £lB to£22 ; medium, £l2 to £l6 ; first-class hacks and light-harness horses, £lB to £25; medium, £8 to £l2 ; light and weedy, £1 10s to £5.

AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, March 9., The Melbourne Manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Limited, of New Zealand reports on the local grain market as follows : Wheat. 8s lid to 3s prices being barely maintained ; barley shows un improvement, 3s 9d to 4s 6d. New Zealand cuts—Feed sorts, market flat andprices drooping, 2s 5d to 2s 9d ; mill insr sorts, 2s 7|d to 3s, in favor of buyers ; under bond, slow of sale, 2s id to 2s 3d.. Ryegrass, 3s 9d to 4s sales only effected with difficulty.

ENGLISH MARKETS. London. March 8. Wheat is firmer, owing to extensive hull purchases at New York. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) have received the following cablegram from London, dated Bth March, 18»7 : Wheat—Market slightly better ; New Zealand average wheat is worth 35s 6d, and New Zealand long-berried B7s per 4961b5. Owing to dearth of stock these quotations are nominal. Adelaide wheat (new) is worth 37« 3d, and Victorian wheat 37» 9d per 4961b5. Victorian wheat to arrive per iron ship is worth, c.i.f., 36s per 48Glbs, March bill of lading ; Adelaide wheat to arrive per wooden ship is worth, c.i.f., 35s 6d per 4801bs, March bill of lading.
