THE V. 8.0. AUTUMN MEETING. ; Melbourne, March 5. At the Y.E.C. Autnmn Meeting to#p,y at Flemington, the weather was fine Jnd warm. There was a large attendance, the Governor being present. Following are results of the principal even's : Matden Stakes ; 1J miles.—Dufferin ui,.. First Consul, dead heat; Master Jack, 2. Time—2min]3sec. Nursery Handicap; 7 furlongs.— Moorhouse, 1; Matador, 2; Aberdeen, 3. Time—lmin 31Jsec. Champion Stakes ; 3 miles.—Trident, 1; Blairgowrie. 2 ; Volcano, 3. Only theße horses started. Time—srr>in 52jsec. All-aged Stakes ; 1 mile.—Nelson, 1 ; Sumatra, 2 ; Hortense, 3. Won easily. Time—lmin 42|sec. Autumn Handicap ; 1 mile and 5 furlongs.—Lord Wilton, 1 ; Satyr, 2; "AH Gold, 3. Time—2min 54^aec. Free Handicap ; 1 mile and a quarter. —Kawhia and The Levite ran a dead heat for first place. Time—2min Owners divided stakes. The Maiden Plate run off resulted in an easy win for Dufferin.
