An TTnexpuotbd Lesson.—Tinder this heading the Press publishes the following:— A somewhat exciting affair took place in Montreal street lost Friday evening. The wife of a leading storekeeper in town was walking along the street between eight and nine o'clock, on her way to the house of a relative, when she was accosted in u grossly improper manner by a man riding % tricycle. Sho expressed in unmistakable terms her opinion of his conduct, and then hurried on to her destination. The man, notwithstanding the rebuff, still followed her. On arriving at the house she told her relative what had occurred, and arranged with him when she went home to follow her, but at such a distance as to be unobserved. She then started again, and the mm on the tricycle once more made his appearance and renewed his insults. The lady's indiguation being thoroughly aroused, and knowing that assistance was at hand if she warned it, she turned on her assailant and belaboured him with her umbrella with a vigour equalled only by his astonishment. Nor did she desist until her umbrella had been reduced to fragments, when her adversary was permitted to retreat a sadder and wiser man. Such are the faots as detailed to us, and if the umbrella is to be accepted as evidence there oan be no doubt as to the energy with which it was laid on. After this prompt and impressive lesson in the duty of politeness to the " weaker sex," it is hoped that the person in question will be more circumspect in his conduct in future.
