ASHBURTON MARKETS. Mr E. G. Staveley (for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports on the Ashburton sale, 15th inst., as follows: About 1200 sheep and a few cattle sent forward for the day’s supply. Small attendance; but the sheep market showed an improved demand for everything except aged culls. Fat cows made £4 10s to £5 10s apiece; ordinary dairy slock, £3 12s 6d ; fat mixed crossbreds, 6s to 6s 6d ; do ewes, 4s 2d; fat merino ewes, 2s 7d and 2s lOd ; forward crossbreds, 8s 4d ; crossbred ewes with lambs, 2s Id, counting all ; cull merino ewes, 6d and lid ; crossbred do, 9d ; store crossbred wethers, 2s 7d. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, Feb. 15. The Melbourne Manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Limited, of New Zealand reports on the local grain market as follows : There is no material change to report in the wheat market; if anything, prices are slightly weaker, viz., 4s lOd to 4s lid. Malting barley is quiet at 8s 6d to 4s 3d, New Zealand oats—Feed sorts are steady, but not active, at 2s lOd to 3s; milling sorts are quieter at 8s to 3s Id ; under bond are slow of sale at 2s 3d, ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Feb. 12. Adelaide wheat, ex store, is unchanged at 37s 6d ; New Zealand, 33s 6d to 37s 6d, according to quality. Adelaide flour remains at 26s 6d. The total-quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,970,000 quarters, 50,000 quarters less than last week. Australian tallow— Beef, average quality, 25s 6d ; mutton, 80s.
