The congregation of Scots Church bpve appointed a Commission, subject to the approval ot the Presbytery, to obtain a permanent minister, thereby virtually solving the dispute which has existed for some time. Jan, 28. A conference took place to-day between Mr. A. Gillies, SirS. Griffiths, Premier of Queensland, and Mr John Douglas, High Commissioner of New Guinea. The subjects under discussion were the constitution, admistration, and expenses of New Guinea, The Victorian Premier states that the colonies are unanimous in their views regarding New Guinea, and expressed a hope that the Imperial; conference would satisfactorily and permanently settle the affairs of that island. A fund for the relief of sufferers by the recent floods in Brisbane has been Started. It is estimated that 60 persons were drowned in the neighborhood of Brisbane during the floods in that city.
