Wellington, Jan. 4. The Supreme Conrt criminal sessions commenced to-day, His Honor Mr Justice Williams presiding. S. Bennett, breaking and entering, was convicted and remanded for sentence; Geo. Raddon, breaking and entering, two years. Chßistchurch, Jan. 4. The criminal session commenced to-day, His Honor Mr Justice Johnston presiding. The following sentences were passed : - Albert Payne; burglary, fot|r years' penal servitude; Joseph Rumble, breaking into a dwelling and stealing, three years' penal servitude; Alfred Beckett, forgery, four years' penal servitude; James Henry Roberts, forgery,'four years' penal servitude yjatnes"Ste wart, forgery, two years' hard; labor; Geo. E. Bentley, forgery, placed under probation for twelve months on payment of costs of prosecution, £lo;,' Alice P.iyrie, breaking and entering,' arid Richard John Baale, indecent assault, were acquitted. Dunedin, Jan. 4. The following senteeces were passed:— Philip Mennard Broad, robbery from a dwelling, three months' imprisonment ; William Stewart Lee, forgery and larceny, : twelve months ; tiobn Henry Sutherland, larceny Iroin a dwelling, two years, Henry Percy Fisher, escaping from legal custody, four years' hard labor ; James Walls, larceny, two years' imprisonment; Sarah Jones, housebreaking, three months ; Thomas Kirk, two years.
