, THE LATEST " TALL'! STORY. ■< The following' astounding story was published in the' San Franqsco Bulletin as a telegram from the town of Stockport, dated October 14th insr. last. We should think the circumstance did create intense excitement ; and although.;: it reads " yarnily," there may be more truth in it than the "quidnuncs" are;prepared to admit. We live in an age of queer eventualities. The telegram said:— "Willie Brougb, twelve' years old, who' created excitement among; superstitous people near Turiock by apparently setting fire to all objects by his glance on Sunday last, and who iB held responsible for the destruction of 9000 dollars worth of farm property, has been expelled from the Madison County School, near Turiock, on account of his wonderful freoks. After Sunday s fire Brougli's family refused to have anything to do with bin, believing him possessed of a devil. The boy was taken in by a farmer andß9r>t to school. On the first day then were five fires in the schoo' —one in the centre of the ceiling, one in the teacher's desk, one iD the teachei'H wardrobe, and two on the wall. The boy discovered all, and cried from frigh l . The trustees met and expelled him that night.
