AUSTRALIAN CABLE. Melbourne, Dec. 28. The passengers by the German Lloyds' Bteimer Preussen have bp<n quarantined for 21 Hays. Twenty freph cases of smallpox have bn*n reported. Sydney, Dec. 27. The Hauroto arrived yesterday evening.
It is rumored that Mr Dibbs is about to resign the appointment, of Coloniol Treasurer, owing to a disagreement with Sir Patrick Jennings, the Premier, Adelaide, Dec, 28.
One of the firemen engagod at the fire in Kundle street, who has since been missing, is now known to hare perished in the flames. Another fireman died from injuries received on that occasion. . The total loss by the fire is now stated to have been £60,000. Mr Murray, the Victorian geologist, has visited the Teetulpa goldfields, and has given a favorable report as to their value and permanency,. Returnß from Teetulpa continue satisfactory. Albany, Dec. 28.
The Peninsular and- Oriental Co.'s 6.6. Sqtlej, with the outwardsmails dated London, November 26'b, arrived this morning.
