THE EASTERN CRISIS.
London, Dec. 21, At an interview with, the Bulgarian deputation to-day, Count' Bismarck strongly advised the Bulgarians to accept Prince Nicholas of Mingrelia as a ruler.
An article appears in the Berlin Post, supposed to be inspired by the Governtdent, stating that Germany cannot rely on the friendship of Russia whilst the latter continues to mass troops on the frontier and coquet with Prance. With the exception of the Daily News the English Press considers that the situation on the Continent is becoming grave. Dec. 22.
Numerous vague rumors are being circulated as to the increased armaments by Austria and Russia; who are reported to be preparing lor war in the ensuing spring, The Austrian Government have ordered from America 400,000 : repeating rifles, delivery to be made in March.
Turkey is massing her troops in Macedonia.
There is a widespread impression that the relations between France and Germany are in an extremely critical condition. The reason ot this belief is not at present known. It is also believed that Belgium has formed-an alliance with Germany.
Dec. 20. The rumors of war have caused the American corn market to harden.
It is reported that Prince Alexander will interview the Bulgarian delegates at Cologne, . Dec. 35.
It is reported that German military, students and officers on furlough have received orders to join their various companies. The English Government has sent a warning to the Porte that tkey will establish a permanent occupation of Lgypt if Turkish intrigues with Russia are continued.
The Standard states that England will not defend Turkey except by an alliance with Austria.
This morning s Post mentions that the Porte is likely to relinquish its omiEnglish policy. Berlin, Doc. 23.
The unofficial Nord Deutsche Zietung publishes an article to-day advocating the Increase of the Army Bill being proceeded with at any cost. ■ Vienna, Dec. 25.
The action of Germany in leaving the settlement of the Bulgarian question in the hands of Russia is increasing the umbrage which has already been manifested against Germany on the part of the Austrian people.
