Turner asking the Board to give bin* information, as to the time, Ac., of the shipment of the new,crane, as he would have a ship leaving Home shortly.—lnformation, supplied. ? ; 'From the Marine Department in regard to' the' diaobarge of-ballast', slating 1 that they did not see their way clear to reduce the charge fori , unloading ballast.— The Chairman said that the tetter of the Board bad been misunderstood and the Department would be communicated with again. From Mr R. A. Spalding in answer to letter from the Board, disclaiming responsibility for the statement in the “ Shipping Gazette ” as to the safety of ,the port of Timaru, —.Matter, to stand over. . - . f V The Chairman said ; the.wharfage re* ceiptsior the month were £453 ,148 3d, and the harbor dues £199. ? Mr Gray moved, Mr. Kellani! seconded, and'it was carried—“ That/it ia desirable that, this Bbftfd"take into con* sideration soon ' some means' of reducing the range Inside”tbe harbor ; that the engineer be instructed,to report fully on the subject to the Committee and to present reports at an early meeting of the'Board.” •:-Ti.-; i )V\ Resolved—‘f That the Finance Committee be to pass and pay accounts for December; daring;the first week in -January, to enable the Secretary to close the harbor accounts for the annual balance and audit;’! and “That the Secretary be instructed to. transfer any balances to credit of the. landing service .account on 31st December to the Harbor Fund, a separate banking acconot being no longer peceabary.” • Mr ’ Acton moved, and Mr Wilson seconded—“ That the Engineer be instructed to prepare plans, for the farther extension of the Moody w|itrf; , || 300 ft.” —After consideration in Committee the motion was carried. The Harbor Master’s report was read as follows, and adopted :—“t hive the honor to report the arrival of 25 vessels, of the eggrsgata register tonnage of 7163 tons, and the departure of 27 vessels of the aggregate register tonnage of 7500 tons, during the month of November, 1886.—0 n December 7th. the Moody wharf was worked for the first time by; two small vessels. TLe survey of the bottom alongside will be completed when the Priestman crane is available.—Since last report I have used ,a„compressed spiraP spring attachment in the place of a
