AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, Dec. 16. The New Zetland Loan an>l Mercantile Agency Oowpany held their weekly salea yewterday, in the presence of « full cornpiemen' of buyers. The catalogue comprised 3023 bales, 2881 being disposed of. Competition was animated. The market for greasy wool is firmer than last week without, however, any material alteration in price. Greasy wool sold op to 10£d ; washed fleece, 15d ; scoured, 17*d. Stdney, Dec. 17. New Zealand wheat is selling at 3s lOd per bushel; ISew Zealand oats, 2s Id; maize, per 561 be, 3s 6d. Pollard is unsaleable at 9d per bushel. ENGLISH MARKETS. London Dec. 16. The wool sales closed to-day. During the series 100,000 bales vere sold and 32,000 held over. The various descriptions experienced the following decline in prices :—Australian greasy, ljd lower ; do scoured, 3d lower; Port Philip and Sydney fine to finest greasy and scoured wools, 2|d lower; inferior qualities lower; greasy crossbred, about Id lower ; ;scoured crossbred, 2d to 2jd lower. The first series of next year's sales open on January 25th. The probab'e quantity to be offered will be 210,000 bales. Dec. 18. The wheat market shows a strong rising tendency in" all positions. Australian shipments on the spot are quoted a* 38s, but there >s only a limited demand. A thousand quarters, January and February shipments, have been sold at 36s 9d.
