MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the above Board was held in the Board's Office, Peel Forest, on Friday, 17th December, 1886. Present— The Hon. J. B. A. Acland (Chairman), Messrs C. G. Tripp, R. Mackay, and R. Thew. A letter was received from Mr G. J. Dennistoun explaining his unavoidable absence. MINUTES. ', The minuteßOf the last meeting were read and confirmed. TENDERS. Tenders were opened for contract No. 10, lengthening Clayton Bridge, as follows:—Weymouth Roberts, £BO (accepted), Riddle, £95; W. Fletcher, £96. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was opened From The Land Office, enclosing plan of Arundel Township, and deferred payment sections in the neighborhood. From Messrs White and Co., re Hitch's road. —The Overseer to instruct Mr Shaw to have a survey made of the earn*'. From Mr A. Mncdonald, declining to sell a piece of land on U.S. 22889 for a gravel pit. From Mr J. asking for leave to cut grass in Reserves. From Mr C. J. Jenkins, re renting reserve 1775, and applyiogfor leuve to clear the timber off portion of R.S. 3208 belonging to the Board.—Mr Jeukinß applications to stand over till next Board day. INSTRUCTIONS TO OTERSEER. The Overseer was instructed to invite tenders for cutting the cocksfoot in the reserves from anyone wishing for the hay or gras9 eeed ; to fence off from the road the gravel pit by Mr Macdonald's where dangerous. BOUNDARY KQAD. A cheque for £lO 19a was received from the Geraldine Road Hoard as their half share of cost of maintesance of boundary road, from Rangitaia to Oraii. INTERVIEWS. Mr Fiatman interviewed the Board, to »Bk leave to run a tramway on tho unused road line through R.S. 1972 to his bush. Mr R.. Irvine attended on bis return from England. He will resume his post as Clerk and Overseer to the Board at the commencement of the New Year. TOTE OF THANKS. A vote of th(.nka was accorded to Mr 0. S. Totton for having fulfilled his duties as Clerk and Overseer in Mr Irvine's absence, since Ist May last, to the satisfaction of the Board. overseer's report. The Overseer's report was read as follows: •• Contract No. 9,, carting boulders, is completed, and some metal has been broken ioi repairs along the road ; the ford on Scotsburn road has been deepened and pitched, and the damage done by the creek on Griffon's road has been repaired ; the protective works on the Lyn are also finished, aud some more reserve fencing repaired; the Orari Gorge track is now iu good Order, also Black Birch Creek tfack and Andrews' Creek right up ; two men have been on Clayton track up to date, and will now finish repairs on Blue Mountain Saddle ; the piles for Clayton's bridge will be sent away on Monday." ACCOUNTS, Accounts to the amount of £202 5s 5d were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned till the third Friday in January. ————^——■»
