AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD.

A meeting of the above Board was held last evening. Present Messrs Lee (Chairman)* Edgeler, Austin, and Proudlock. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting wtre fead and confirmed CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read— From Messrs Priest and Holdgate, ■'■" Timaru, offering to sell drainage pipes to Board. Prom Mr J. Meyer, asking his mime to be taken off the rate roll, and Mr Tallender's inserted instead.—The Clerk was instructed to make the necessary alterations. BESERVEB. Mr Edgeler said with regard to settling with the Eoad Board, many w*re not satisfied with the reserves being given. Tbey were saying the Board was a bungling concern. The Chairman said the matter hxl been settled last meeting. Mr Austin said the people had e'ected tbem, acd they would only have to do their best. The Clerk read the letter forwarded to Mr Baker in reference to the grouping of the reserves, as published in our last issue ; also stating that they had selected sectioas 658 and 660, in Maudo street, and sections 657 aud 659, in Ormsby street, as gravel sites. The whole would be two acres. FINANCIAL. The Chairman spoke at some length about the Board not having yet received the money in the hands of the Government, aud after some conversation it was decided that the Chairman and iVTr Proudlock should wait on Mr J. H. Baker, Commissioner of Crown Lands, with reference to the subject. The Board then adjourned for a fortnight. DEPUTATION. Messrs Lee and Proudlock afterwards waited on Mr Baker at the Wallingf ord Hotel, and he informed thero tb»t he had long ago passed a voucher for the money, apd expressed surprise at finding they had not received it. He recommended /.them to write to the Under-Secretary for Lands, and promised to do all he could to expedite matters.
