MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Mount Feel Road'Board was held in their office on Friday, 19tL November. Present— The Hon. J. B. A. Acland (Chairman), Messrs C. Q. Tripp, 6. J. Dennistoun, R, Mackay, and R. Thew. The minutes of the last meeting having been read.and confirn/ed, correspondence was opened from the Clerk to the Geraldine County Council, asking amount of rate to be levied, and recommending the Board to apply for subsidy ; also asking for the half year's contribution to the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board up to 31st March, 1887, amounting to £lO2 17s 3d.—lt was resolved toiorward amount due, and ask the Council, as the contributions amounts to'nearly a rate of |d in the £, what relief ratepayers or those in their emplqy are entitled to in the case of going to the Timarn Hospital on account of accident or illness. The Overseer was directed to call tenders for repairing the North Opuha Stock bridge ; to inspect the Four Peaks and Clayton bridle track, and other repairs requiring to be done. Additional clauses to" the general conditions of Contrnct Form were decided on, whereby contractors working for the district are precluded from having dogs with them, and from turnnghorses into reserveh or any other reserves ' Id the occupation of the Board without written permission from the Overseer, under penalty of £1 per day or part of a day. The Overseer's report was then read. It stated that metalling and other repairs had been finished on Kakahu and Burke's Pass Road; 2000 willow stakes had been planted and well fenced where the creek breaks into the road. On Reed's road the slips have been cleared away, and the road repaired. Tancred's creek is now : being! bridged. The Peel Forest Main road is now in good order from the Boundary road to the other side of the Forest, and repairs are going on up the Gorge. The Waihi Gorge track has been repaired, alsb the Blue Mountain Pass track to near the Saddle. The Orari Gorge track has been put in order, and some walls built in dangerous places, Accounts to the amount of £342 5s lid were passed for payment, and the meeting was adjourned to the 17th December.
