ASHJBURTON MARKETS,

Mr E, G. Stanley (for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company) reports on the stock sale on Tuesday as follows :

A full entry of stock to hand, about 8000 sheep being penned, and of these the majority were in wool. The attendance was large but the sale was without animation, and prices generally lower than those lately ruling. Fat shorn mixed crossbreds made 6s 4d to 10s fid ; fat shorn ewes, 8s ; fat woolly crossbreds, 12s 6d ; forward shorn twotooth cross-breds, 5s 2d ; store do, 4s 3d ; small hoggets, unshorn 5s 2d and 5s 9d ; medium do, 6s 6d and 7s 6d ; superior do, 10s 4d ; aged ewes, in the wool with moderate percentage, 6s Id ; shorn do, 2s 4d, counting all.

AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, Nov. 16. The Melbourne Manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Limited, of New Zealand reports on the local grain market as follows : Wheat is quiet at from 5s to 5s Id ; barley, no improvement, 3s 9d to 4s 3d. New Zealand oats—-Feed sorts are difficult to sell, even at a slight reduction, at 2s lid to 3s 2d ; milling sorts, depressed, 3* 2d to 3s 3d ; under bond, neglected, 2s 3d to 2s sd.
