I AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS. TIMARTT. 1 Messrs Grade, Maclean and Adam re« port for the Saturday as follows : ; Horses—At tbe annual sale of exhibited and other horses held at the Timaru Horse Bazaar on Thursday last our entry consisted of 64 head of all classes, not a few of these carrying tickets, showing the honors gained by them on the previous dny. Competition, was rather slack, but prices obtained., for those sold were fairly' satisfactory. We disposed of 26 head, and,at, our regular sale today about onehalf of our entry of 28 head changed hands. We quote best draughts at from £2O to £35 ; medium, £l6 to £lB ; hacks and light harness,. £l4 to £25 for medium to good, and £4 to £Bl,os for light and inferior. Cattle-/fba effort that has been made by the yard Committee auctioneers to establish an annual sale of store cattle at Washdyke resulted in bringing forward on Friday an entry of over 400 bead, composed of all sorts, from weaners upwards. Several of tbe lot 3 were in good store condition, but tbe majority were backward. Business throughout the sale was very dull, graziers evidently deeming it advisable to let their pastures get well ahead before stocking. We sold, over 50 head at from 20s for calves, up to £4los for nell grown steer's. Sheep—We have no transactions in fat sheep to report. Privately we have placed a small hoe of crossbred lioggetß in the wool at about former quotations. Land—At our rooms to-day we sold, on behalf of the mortgagee, a 60 acre f«rm, situated on the Levels plains, at £5 5s per acre, to Mr T, Geaney. We also disposed of a consignment of saddlery at good prices.
AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, Oct. 29. The Loan and Mercantile Agency Company held their usual weekly sale with a fairly representative catalogue, the offer comprising 1600 bales, of which 1238 bales were sold, notwithstanding; v the ~,market being considerably lower, owing to the Home ind Continental buyers having, their limits reduced. The attendance was arge and the competition brisk. 'Greasy merino shows a decline of £i to fd, scoured wools Id to l£d, since commencement .of the season. No large or important clips were offered. The highest price secured for greasy/ wool was lOfd, scoured 17£d, although a large parcel of the latter was passed in at 18|d. Sydney, Oct. 30. New Zealand wheat is at 4s Id ; New Zealand oats, 2s 6d ; maize, per 56lbs, 3s Id. Sugar Company's No. 1 pieces, £25. •
A DELUDE, Oct. 30. Wheat is selling at from 5s to 5s 2d. Flour, town brands, £ll 15s per ton; country brands, £lO 128 6d to, £lO 15?. . | ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Oct. 28. It is announced that the November' series of wool auctions close on Novem-' ber 23rd. The next series of colonial wool auctions commence on November 30th.
Oct. 31. The wl eat market has held firmly since Monday at an advance of from 6d t» Is. Business is, however, dull. Australian cargoes are quoted at 35s 6d. There are no arrivals*
