Prizes amounting to about £550 will be given ia Pieces of. .Plate, Medals, or Cash ; also the following additional prizes A Ohallengo Cup, value 40 Guineas, will be given by .the members aud friends of the Association to the largest prize-taker in Breeding Stock—Sheep, Cattle, and Horses. Vice-President, Mr G. H. Rhodes, - gives a cup, value £lO, for the best horse that hat hunted with any recognised pack.' The same to be entered in either, class 151 or 152. The Hunt Clubs of South Canterbury give a prize of £5 5s for the best Light-weight Hunter. lir F. LeOren, on behalf of the N.Z.L, and M.A. Company, offers a Cup, of the value of £1010», for the best pen of not lees than twenty (20) Sheep in the wool, suitable for freezing for export; open to all Farmers nob occupying or owning more than 3000 acres of land, the Sheep to have been bred and fattened by exhibitor. The Cup will not be awarded unless there be at least six exhibitors, but it will be available for the same object at next j ear’s show. Maximum. . number of points to be 18, thus apportioned : Early maturity, 6 j wool, 6 ; . carcase, 6. Special entry. The Association offer a prize of £5, in addi- . tion to £5 offered by Mr William BalE vfour, for the best Dray Root-cutting i Machine, to be drawn by not more than two horses, the roots to be dropped on the ground out to size suitable for sheep; certainty of automatic feeding, and capability of cutting the largest quantity in a given time to be specially considered ; the dray to hold not less than 15cwt of roots. The Association offer a prize of £5 for a Turnip Drill, to sow from 601bs,to 200 lbs to an acre of Bone-dust or Super-phos-phate in the same drills. To sow from 6ozs to 21bs of turnip seed to the acre, suitable to sow either level or down lands. The Association offer a prize of £3 for the best Automatic Chaff Box; for feeding sheep, ito hold not less than ten bags, to be wind and Water proof,' and to be easily moveable. Mr James King : offers a first and second prize of £3 and £2 respectively for the best yearling colt or filly by Quaruby. Mr J. Ballantyne gives a prize of £2 2s for the best .Jar of Salt Butter suitable ~for export. This exhibit, same conditions as for Potted Butter, must be left with the Secretary on .or before Saturday, September 25th.. , Mr J. Ballantyne gives a prize of £2 2s for tlfe best Cheese suitable for export. Mr A.' Grant offers a prize of £2 for the best English Leicester Ewe, with or without lamb at foot. Mr S.
