TIMARU HARBOR BOARD.

The monthly meeting of. the Harbor Board was held yesterday morning. Present—Messrs J. H. Sutter (Chairman), Win. Sim ß , E. Acton, J. Talbot, J. KMinnd, J. Wilson, T. Tesohemaker, W. Moody, and M. Jonas. The minutes of the last meeting were rend and confirmed. The Marine Depar'ment wrote drawing attention to the Harbors Act Amendment Act 1886, which would come into force on the Ist prox. Special attention was drawn to sections 8 to 11, which provided for the manner of keeping the accounts, and also 12, which dealt with the illegal borrowing and expenditure, The German Csnsul in Dunedin, Mr Morrifjson, wrote asking the Board to send details as to harbor charges, etc., for the Port of Tfnjaru, for the purpose of forwardmg the information to Hamburg. —The Secretary said he had forwarded the information.

A letter was read from the Manager of tho Bank of N.Z. re fixed deposits, and stating that, as ipstructed, he had forwarded Home, per the San Francisco mail, a draft for £SOO.

A letter was read from Messrs Jas. McEwan and Co., Londjn, r$ plant, suggesting an increase of £SQO on the amount placed to their credit by the Board, and stating that they did not think the plant would be ready to send by the McLeod, unless tha! vessel was detained.

A letter was read from the Oamaru Harbor Board stating that they intended to adopt the suggestions of the Timaru Board re steel fittings for the dredge Progress, nnd asking for the loan of 100 disks of cement. —The Chairman explained th(.t the Standing-Committee had refused the request for cement.--Messrs Jona* and Acton expressed regret that the had been refused.
