DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS. The following: is the report for the week ending Wednesday : Wheat—Since last report the maikei has not undergone any significant change, speculation being very quiet. Very lift e of any description is finding its way now to market. Inferior and fowls’ wheat is exceedingly scarce and in demand, Prime milling velvet and Tuscan, 4« 8d to 4s 9i; other sorts, fair to good, 4s 6 i to 4s 7d ; ordinary, 4s 3d to 4s fid ; inferior ami fowls’ wheat, 3s 9d to 4s 3d (ex store, (mgs in). Oats The demand during the past week has not at all improved, and transactions have been limited. Most owners of stocks in store still hold out for higher rates, and there is little or no business doing; last week’s quotations are still demanded, and are as follow : Stout bright milling, 2s 4d ; superior sample, 2s fid ; best short bright feed, 2s 2£d to 2s 3d ; medium 2s Id to 2s 2d ; inferior, Is lOd to 2s ; long Tartarian, 2s fid to 2s 9d (ex store, bags weighed in).

Burley—There is no improvement in (he demand, and the market consequently continues inactive. Quotations are—For prime milling, 3s to3s Id ; milling, 2s 8d to 2s 9d ; feed, 2s 5d to 2s 7d (ex store, bags in). Ryegrass Seed -—Present quotations are: —For medium undressed 3s 9d to 4s 3d ; good to prime (off old pasture), 4s 6d to ss; machine dressed, 5s 3d to 5s 9d according to quality. Cocksfoot Seed —A moderate demand exists for this seed, but the business done is in no way extensive. Prices range from 4sd to 5d per lb. Potatoes—ln over supply, newly picked are quoted at 60s to 655; inferior and medium, 40s to 55s per ton. No dernaud for kidneys. Butter—Market overstocked with salt at 8d for prime ; fresh, lid to Is for best mixed lots.

Eggs—ls per dozen. Turnips—2la per ton. Carrots—4oi per ton and wanted

Sheepskins—On Monday, country dry cronsbreds, low to medium, brought Is to 3s 9d ; fuli wool, 4s to 5s 8d ; do do merino, low to medium, Is to 8s 8d ; fullwool, 4s to 8s j dry pelts, 3d to 7d ; green croasbreds, 3s lOd to 4s 91 ; do merino, 3s 8d to 4s 2d. Hides—Quotations this wnek are : For inferior, l|d to 2d ; light, 2Jd ; medium, 2|d and 3d ; heavy, 3£d; extra good lots perhaps a shade over. Tallow—This week's quotntions are—» For inferior and mixed, 12a to 14a ; medium, 15s to 16s; good lo prime mutton, 17s tn 19s ; rough fat—inferior and mixed, 6s to 7s ; medium, 8s to 10s ; fresh clean mutton, lis to 12s per cwt, AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, Sept. 8. In the Sydney meat market boo has realised 36s pel lOOlbs, mutton averaging 2£d per lb. ENGLISH MARKETS. Melbourne, Sept. 8. Private telegrams received in Melbourne report that the London colonial wool sales opened yesterday to an unusually large attendance of Home and foreign buyers. The market was active, at an advance of from 15 to 20 per cent, on the closing prices of last sales. The total quantity available for the present series is 265,000 bato, of which 219,000 are Australian wools. London, Sept. 7. The third series of colonial wool sales was to-day before a large attendance of bnyers. The catalogue comprised 13.000 bales, for which there was a brisk competition. Prices range from id to 2d per lb higher than at the close of Ust sales, greasy showing an , advance of from Id to 2d, scoured 2d, coarse greasy crossbreds to Id, and fine greasy crossbreds Id to l|d. Cape wools advanced from l-|d to 3d. The total number ot bales available for the | series is 280,000. .
