GERALDINE LITERARY INSTITUTE.

A meeting of the Committee of thii Institute rs held on Thursday e\ening in the Library. Present—Messrs J. 'Cunningham (Chairman), C. E. Sherratt, A. H. Brisco, and J. S. Wsjte, Secretary. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, FINANCE. The Secretary stated that the subscriptions were coming in very weltf After paying all expenses he had about 1 ' J 65" 7s" 6d in hand. Since the Inst meeting of the Committee two or three new members had joined the Institute. APPOINTMENT Of TEEASUEER.

Mr T. Hughes, the Treasurer, having removed to Cbristchurcb another Treasurer was appointed in bis stead. NEW BOOKS.

The Secretary stated that it would be necessary to obtain a few new books before the end of the year.

The Chairman said he had seen Mr Haines, Secretary to the Temuka Library, since the last meeting, and tbe Temuka Committee would be very gl»d to join with the Geraldine Committee in sending home an order for books. Upon the motion of Mr Brisco, seconded by Mr Sherratt, it was decided that the Secretary write to the Secretary of the Temuka Library and inquire whether they could assist in making up an order for books from Home ; also, stating that this Committee could spare about £7 fortLe purpose. DIVIDING FENCE.

The fence having been broken down between Mr R. H. Pearpoint's section jind the Institute's sectjop, so allowing ,tbe former's horses to come through
