There were only three cases for the civil session of the Supreme Court at Auckland .yesterday morning'. One was determined in plaintiff’s favor through non-appearance of the defendant, another was settled out of Court, and the third was discontinued. Professor Kirk, Conservator of Forests, proceeds to Whangarei (Auckland) shortly in connection with the School of Forestry to he established there. Wiseman’s saddlery at Wyndham (Southland) was burned down on Sunday. The stock and furniture were insured for £3OO in the New Zealand office. The building was also insured, but it is not known to what, amount. At old schoolhouse at Wjndham lately purchased by the Government for a Courthouse narrowly escaped destruction a fow days ago, several sticks of phoa- (

phorous being f.mnd in the porch by children. The stuff, which was smoking, was kicked outside by the children, none of whom were injured. The Invercargll tramway and plant has been purchased by a syndicate of Christchurch and Invercargill business men. Negotiations were conducted by Mr G. F. Martin, Christchurch, now of the N. M. and A. Co., but late of Invercargill, and the price is understood to be £3OOO.
