ST. MARY'S CHURCH, GERALDINE
A meeting of the Vestry nf t! ichnrch was h*> d in Mr PpsrpmntV office on Thursday evening. Present— The Rev. J. Preston (in the cliai-) H. W. Moore, J. Hawke, J. Pizzey, ai:u R, H. Pearpoint. The minntes of the last meeting werp read tod confirmed, A circular letter wbb received from the Bishop, asking for a fall account of the indebtedness of the church. The Chairman stated that the principal bußinegg of the meeting was to arrange for the getting up of a tea and concert, or some other form of entertainment to raise the necP6B»ry fund* for the repairs that were neidrd to tU roof of the church. After some discussion upnn the ie*khig of the roof, Mr Pearpoin* proposed, and it was carried—" That Mr McKay ba asked to examine the roof, and report to the Vestry upon its state." It was also decided, upon the proposition of A* r Moore, seconded by Mr Pearpoint—" That Mtssre Young i>nri Waters he asked to see in the tighpninu' of the bolts of the church." A conversation thf-n tork plane as u what form the proposed entcrtainnifn should take, and it was finally arraugr.: to bold a tea and promenade concert • n or about October 7th. Mr Moore w«m deputed to curry out the Becesnarv arrangements for the concert, and the ladies of the congregation to be aikod to assist in getting up the te». The Volunteer Hall bfing the largest hall in Geraldine, and avowing ample room for both tea and concert, it wa« decided to endeavor to obtain the use of it for the evening. Votes of thanks to the Chairman, and to Mr Pearpoint for the use of his C'ffice, terminated the meeting.
