FOOTBALL.

THE SYDNEY TEAM. The Sydney Football team arrived at Auckland on Wednesday by the Rotomaliana. They are P. Allan, J. Austin, T. Bellbridge, B. Blacksland, C. Y. Caird, P. Colquhoun, E. Cameron, T. P. Carr, G. W. Macarthur, A. Pearson, H. Read, J. Shaw, M. Shortus, G. Walker, E. Weaver, K. Warren, Warlnougb, and Wiseheart, the latter bring a Soudan hero. A Sydney paper says the team is regarded as the strongest combination that has ever left the colony. Some cf the forwards are a trifle light, but the backs are wonderfully fast. Blacksland, Carr, and Shortus represent Junior Clubs, but they are well worth their places. The team do not visit the Waikato. The match with Auckland takes place on Saturday, The visitors arrived in good form. Their average weight is list 71b, and they are a very likely-looking lot of men. J. A. Shaw is Captain, C. J. Caird Vice-Captain, S. N. Macarthur Manager, and Messrs Shaw, Pearson, aud Warren Management and Selection Committee. The Canterbury football team were met by a crowd of footballers and others on arrival at Dunedin, and enthusiastically received. The Otago team has been changed, Yallanoe having been substituted for Austin as full-back, and Miller for Wedderspoon as three-quarters, both these playera having received injuries last Saturday,
