BILL’S MATE’S LETTER.
TO THE EDITOR, Sir,—l see you have had another letter from the correspondent who calls himself “ Bill’s Mate,” and, like, all hio others, a most senseless one. But allow me, Mr Editor, to tell you that it is not Bill’s Mate, but Bill, himself, who writes. His male’s name is Jack, or more gentlemanly called John, Now, Sir, you well know that the concert Bill writes about was not the first in a certain district, but it is the first one they did not cause a disturbance in. As Bi'l well knows, it was got up by the Presbyterians—and canny settlers at that—who well know both Bill and Jack, and as for them giving anything for the “ kids” (as he call’s them) or anything connected with the “ kids” or school, they are the ones to go against it, and would more freely give to put a stop to anything got up in aid of the school. But Bill’s Mate, Mr Editor, is of the highest society, and would not do anything outside his cloak—but his cloak is getting very thin, very thin, indeed, and can be seen through. As for Bill, I always thought a Sunnier place would agree with him heeler than this place, but when he interferes with a person who never did him or any living being harm, but has obliged him more times than one, there are more than Presbiters who think that ha certainly must want a change.— lam, etc., ' One who thinks Bill snd His Mate a Good Pi«.
