Steers sold at fmm £5 10* to £9 6a ; heifers from £4179 6d t- £7 ss, b-ing from 21a to 24a per iCOlb, according to the quality. Fat Sheep - A good entry, the quality in most cases beii g abo'e the average. A good demand was slioad throughout, late rates being quite maintained, local buyers and freezers both operating Prime crossbreds sold at from 11a 3d to 16s fid ; medium weights, 8s to 10* 3d ; crossbred ewes from 8s 61 to 12s fid; merino wethers were ouly in moderate supply, prices ranged from 4s 3d toßs fid. Again this week no store sheep were yarded. Pigs were in moderate supply, demand middling, values unchanged.

London, Aug. 18. Colonial breadstuffs have advanced sixpence, to-day’s prices being ; Adelaide wheat, ex store, 36s 6d ; New Zealand, 28s to 34s 6d ; Adelaide flour, ex store, 3t»s. Australian tallow is unchanged. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, has received the following cable from London, dated the 17th instant:—
Wool—Since the close of the pales there has been considerable business by private treaty at aa average advance of 10 per cent, on last sales closing rates, except fine crossbred, which has advanced £d pet lb. The outlook for the next sales is favorable. Wheat—Market has an upward tendency. Harvest prospects are discouraging. Tbe United Kingdom harvest is deficient alike in quantity and quality. Victorian wheat is worth 35s 6d ; New Zealand average 33s 6d, and New Zealand long-berried 35s per 4961bs ; New Zealand wheat f.a.q. is worth, c.i.f. off coast, 32s per 4801 b. Tallow—Market steady. Fine qualities are not in demand, but there is a good trade demand for lower and medium sorts. Good mutton and beef tallow* are worth, respective!?, 26s and 23s 6d per cwt
Leather—M arket steauy. Best sides are worth 10£l per lb. Frozen Meat —Market depressed, Stocks are in excess of trade requirements. New Zealand mutton, weighing 651bs to 70ibs per carcase, is worth 4|<i per lb.
