Margaret Ryan, who has been in the Auckland hospital several weeks suffering from self-inflicted wounds in her throat, made another desperate attempt at suicide on Sunday, She got possession of a knife nod again cut her throat, but was restrained promptly and the wound stitched up. Ryan was shut up in a padded room, but was found soon after to have torn open the wounds in her throat, and attempted to hang herself from the gasalier. The police were sept for, and removed her ip a violent condition to the lunatic asylum. John Lange, jeweller, committed suicide by shooting himself in an outhouse at Hokitika at 8 o’clock on Tuesday 'morning. It is supposed that financial embarrassment led to the fatal deed. The deceased was well knpwn and widely respepted throughout the West Coast. George Johnston, late a brewer, blew out his brains on Monday at Gisborne, Deceased was found in his bed holding a rifle in his hand, the trigger having been pulled wjth his toe, and his brains were literally blown over the bed, A wrestling match for the championship of New Zealand took place at New Plymouth op Su'Ptday qight between Hudson, the present champion, and Dunn, the champion of Westland, Nelson, and Marlborough.
