DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS.

At the Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following business was transacted : Fat Cattle—l3B were yarded for the weekly market. Notwithstanding the smallness of this supply the demand was only moderately brisk, excepting for the few pens of really prime quality, which commanded full rates, while ordinary was scarcely so firm. Best bullocks brought £9 to £ll 5» ; medium, £6 7s 6d to £8 12e 6d ; light, £4 to £6 2a 6d ; and cows in proportion. Fat calves sold up to 10s. Fat Sheep-1695 penned. Of these 370 were merinos (fair to good), and the balance crossbreds (mostly ewes), with a few pens of medium to prime quality wethers. Competition was fairly active, and prices realised v/ere from Is to Is fid above last week’s. Best crossbred wethers brought 12s to 14s ; medium, 9s to lls fid ; best do ewes, 9s fid to lls 9d ; medium do, 8s 3d to 9s 3d $ merino wethers, fis fid to 8s- —Mr L, Maclean sold for Mr M. Studholme (Waimate Estate), 30 crossbred ewes at 9s fid to 9s 9d.—Messrs-Wright, Stephenson, and Co. sold for Mr Andrew Martin (Otaio), 60 halfbred wethers at 13a; for Mr Walter Hartnell (Eakaia), 120 crossbred ewes at 10s. Pigs—lg 7 penned. Stores brought 14s to 16a; porkers, 15a to 255; and baconers from 80s to 51s each.—Mr L. Maclean sold for Mr M. Studholme (Waimate Estate), 30 from 26s to 365; and for Mr James M’Donald (Washdyke), 34 from 22s to 36a. Horses—Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co, report {—Draught horses ere not commanding the attention they did a few weeks ago, owing to several recent shipments to Australia having resulted in loss to the senders. Prices in consequence of this are much easier. Good strong carriage horses are in request, but light and inferior sorts are almost unsaleable. We quote first-class draughts at from £22 to £27 ; • medium, £ls to £lB ; good hacks and strong carriage horses, £ls to £2O; medium, £lO to £l2; light and inferior, £1 to £4,
