TEMUKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the Ternuka School Committee look place last Tuesday evening. Present—Messrs Brown (Chairman), Gray, Blyth, Le®, Davis, Miles and Cooper. MINUTES. The rainutss of the last meeting were read and confirmsd. CORRESPONDENCE. Outward correspondence (one letter to the Board ot Education and one to the h«ad Master) was read and approved. A letter was read from the head Master covering the report for the month. He reported Avarage wei-kly roll, boys 178, girls 142, total 320 ; strict average attendance, boys 122.9, girls 98.4, total 216.3 ; working average attendance, boys 130.6, girls, 100.7, total, 231.3 ; highest attendance, boys 141, girls 109, total 250. He further reported that some of the cadets had canvassed the town for subscriptions and had collided about £l2 10s. VISITORS. Mr Miles reported that lie had visited the school during the past month and that everything seemed to be progressing satisfactorily. Mr Ooopsr was appointed visitor for the ensuing month. COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE. The Chairman pointed out that bo had, in accordance with the instructions with the instructions of the Committee, summoned the parents of Thos. Powell(, (11 years) and Dolly Bryant (8 years) for irregular attendance at school, and the cases would be heard the following day,
iOSKHTBTS, Two accounts were passed for payment, Tia., W, McCann £4 7* »nd Comer and Larcombe £5 17* 61, Tbe Secretary was instructed to forward two of the accounts amounting to £.5 17fl 6d (one for £4 and the other £1 17s 6d) to the Board of Education and point out that the Board, some time ago, promised tbe Committee £2 for the ladders and £1 for half the cost of the parallel bars. He was further instructed to ask the Board to be good enough to reimburse the Committee for the £1 17s 6d expended by them on necessary repairs, as per account sent, the Committee having taken advantage of the holidays to have their much needed repairs executed. BTXTIOHBBY. The Chairman reported that he had ordered the stationery item* the Head Master had applied tor at Ihe last meeting, and tb" r had been duly supplied. ] CJDENTAL FUND, The lowm 6o of the incidental fund was then discussed, and it was resolved on the motion of Mr Lee, seconded by Mr Miles—“ That a concert be held in the Volunteer Hall on 3 Oth August in aid of the incidental fund, price of admission to be Is 61 and It,” On the motion of Mr Brown, eecoaded by Mr Lee, a sub-Committee, consisting of Messrs Miles, Cooper, th« Head Master, and the Secretary was appointed to arrange tor the concert. This being all the business, the meeting terminated.
