COMMERCIAL.
CHRIBTOHURCH PRODUCE MARKETS Business during the past week has been of a very retail nature. In wheat sellers are holding out for prices considerably beyond what can be obtained outside of this market. Oats have a decidedly firmer tendency, and a slight advance has taken place in last week's quotations. In other lines we have no change to report. Butter is a shade weaker, while cheese, consequent on small stocks, remains at last week's values.
Wheat- -Prime Tuscan is steady at 4s Id to 4s 2d f.0.b., but higher prices have been paid for seed parcels. Pearl is quoted at 4s, and Hunter's at 3a lOd to 3s lid f.0.b., chick feed is very firm at 39 to 3s 3d f.o.b. Oats—Milling is selling'freely at 2s 2d to 2s 4£d ; bright short feed, 2s 23 to 2s 3d ; inferior, Is lid to 2s Id f.o.b. Barley—Malting remains dormant, and values are nominal, 3s 2d to 3a 4d. Feed has good enquiry at 2s 4d to 2s 6d f.o.b. boiling are steady at 4» to 4s 3d, but higher prices have been paid for seed. Feed are quoted at 3s to 3s 4d f.o.b.
Beans ate firmer at 3s to 3s 2d f.o.b. Grass Seed —Bye grass is without material change in value, but enquiries are being made for spring sowing. Cocksfoot is firmer at 4d to 4Jd f.o.b, Potatoes are only in request for local consumption ; 55s to 60s is being paid at country stations, where condition can be guaranteed. Dairy Produce—Butter is much weaker, and prime is now quoted at lOd to lid. Cheese remains at 6d to 6|d for loaf, and 5d to ssd f.o.b. for larger sizes. CHBISTCHUECH STOCK MARKETS. At the Addington lards on Wednesday moderate entries of stock yarded, and about the usual attendance of buyers present. Fat cattle—A very small supply of this class of stock came to hand. The competition was pretty keen for every ■ lot, and prices advanced considerably. ] Steers sold at from £5 to £6 12s 6d, heifers from $4 2s 6d to £6, and fat cows from £4 JOs to £7, being from 18s to 20s per lOOlbs, Stores—But a moderate entry of odd lots of cattle. No quotable sales to report. Fat Sheep—A pretty full market, quality principally moderate; demand not very good ; va'ues barely up to late quotations. Heavy prime crossbred wethers sold at from 10s 6d to 12s 6d; medium, 8s 3d to 10s; crossbred ewes, from 7 s to 9s 9d; merino wethers from 6s to 8s Jd • an average price of barely |£d per lb, Stores —A small entry, principally old sheep ; very little business done. Pigs A moderate entry, the demand for bacon pigs showed a marked improvement, aod advance in values. Porkers also improved likewise. §tore pigs very dull of sale, prices as follows :—Baooners, 3Qs to 45s ; porkers, 16s to 255, DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS. The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday r Wheat —A keen demand continues to exist, and last wetk's quotations remain grm, and prices are likety to advance. Prime milling Tuscan, 6d to 4s 7d ; do white velvet,"£s Bd to 4s 01; prime hard red straw, which lias the most demand at present owing to short supplies, commands 4s 4>l to 4s 6d < medium quality, 4s to 4s §i ; inferior and fowls' Wheat is also in good request at 2s $d to 3* lid (ex store, bags weighed in). v "Oats—Milling samples are in good demand for local requirements, and feed have nlco been in fair request by shippers, Bright stout milling oats, 2s 5d to 2s 6d ; medium, 2s 4d to 2s 5d ; best bright abort feed, 2s 2d to 2a 3d ; medium, 2s to 2s Id ; inferior and diacolored, Is 9-1

Grass Seed—At the present there is no inquiry, and nothing passing in these lines. Quotations nominal. Potatoes—Market quiet at £5 to £3 5s per ton. Butter—Best quality fresh, Is; salt, quiet at 9d to 9£d. Eggs—ls 6d per dozen ; supplies fall. Turnips—22B 6d for Swedes. Carrots—4os.
Sheepskins Dry crossbreds, low to medium, brought 8d to 2s lOd ; do merinos, 9d to 2s Ud ; dry pelts, Id to 4'i; greasy crossbreds, 2h 4d to 3s 2d ; do merino, 2* Id to 2s 4d ; lambskins, 2s 3d to 3s 2d.
Hides—Good heavy weights, 60lbi to 65lbs, free from offal, shauks, or cheeks, 4d, or a fraction over; medium 3Jd to 3|d ; light, 3d to 3£d ; bulls and inferior, 2d to 2Jd. Tallow—lnferior, 13s to 16s; medium, 17s to 19s ; prime rauttOD, 20s to 21s ; rough fat, 8s 6d to 12s 6d percwt. DT7NEDIN STOCK MARKETS. At the Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following business was transacted : The demand was fairly active, and prices current were fully equal to last week's quotations. Wright, Stephenson, and Co. sold for Mr Andrew Grant (Tenouka), 6 bullocks at from £8 5s to £9 12s 6d. Donald Reid and Co. sold for Mr W. Quinn (Makikihi), 7 cows at £6 to £B.
Fat Sheep—923 penned, including 140 merino wethers. Best crossbred wethers brought from 9s 6d to lis ; best crossewes, Si to 9s 6d ; merino wethers, 3s to 68 6d. Wright, Stephenson, and Co. sold for Mr Walter Hartnell (Rakaia), 55 prime crossbreds at 9s 6d, and 95 merino wethers at 6s Sd. Donald Reid and Co. sold for Mr William Quinn (Makikihi), 30 crossbreds at 10a 9d, 33 at 7s 6d. Fat Lambs—Bß penned and sold by Wright, Stephenson and Co., at from 53 6d to 6s.
Pigs—424 penned. For the baconers there was good competition and fair prices were obtained, but stores and porkers were very cheap. L. Maclean (on behalf of the B. and N.Z.M. and A. Co.) Bold for Mr James M'Donald (Washdyke) 63 baconers at from 31s to 425.
Horses—Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows : Eighty-nine horseß came forward for last Saturday's sale, in eluding about a score of first-class draught mares and geldings from well-known breeders. For these there was a good competition at prices ranging from £24 to £SO. Privately, for shipment to Australia, we have sold 40 first-class draught mares and geldings at quotations. By the Waihora, about 50 horses were shipped to Victoria. We quote firstclass draughts at from £27 to £33; medium, £lB to £22 ; light, £l2 to £ls ; good strong c»rriage and light harness horses, £l6 to £22; medium, £lO to £l2; light and inferior, £2 to £6, ENGLISH MARJTETS. London, June 22. Colonial breadstuff's continue to maintain last quotations. Tallow is firm at 25s 6d per cwt. for bepf, and 27s 6d for mutton of fair average quality. At the woof sales to-day a catalogue of 13,600 bales was submitted. The tone of the market was firm. June 23.
At the wool sales to-day a catalogue ot 14,000 bales was submitted. Prices throughout were firmly maintained, and Sydney, Kiverina, and Adelaide scoured and greasy wools were in good demand at an advance of 21 to 3d per lb. Greasy wools, good to inferior qualities, were 31 to 4<l higher, Short Sydney and Port Philip wools advanced 2d to 2£d per lb. New Zealand wools ranged about l|d above prices obtained at last sales. Fine crossbreds were about Id higher.
The New Zealand £oan and Mercantile Agepcy Company have received the following cablegram, dated London, Jane 22nd, 1886 : Wool The sales progress firmly. Greasy crossbred lambs' wool has advanced }.d per lb since close of last sales, and for merino lambs, the market is firmer, The Continental demand is good, and competition on Fiench account is active. The totil quantity catalogued to date is 64,000 bales, and withdrawals amount to 1500 hales, Wheat market dull, Adelaide wheat is worth 35s 6d ; New Zealand average 325, and New Zealand long berried 83a, per 4961ba. Victorian wheat, to arrive per iron ship, is worth, c.i.f., 34s per 4801bs MayJune bill of lading. Quotations nominal. Good reports of American crops and fair reports of Russian crops reach us. Tallow—Fine qualities are not in demand, but there is h goad Continental demand for lover and medium sorts. Good mutton and beef tallows are worth respectively, 26s and 24s per cwt. Leather market is unchauged. Frosen Meat—Market quiet and Btocks are increasing. New Zealand mutton weighing per carcase 65, to 701bs is worth s|d per lb. Prime New Zealand lambs are worth per lb,
