CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE
The Corn Exchange reports for the week ending Friday evening, the 11th June :
Although advices are to hand of shipments of wheat from California t> Sydney, wheat locally continues to harden. Prime Tuscan at 4s has shippi rs. Local milleis and speculators in seed parcels are eager to do business where a paicel is choioa and storage rates reasonable, Hardy wheats am also wanted Er mixing at 3s lOd to 4s, and are rather scarce. Hunter’s are more largely held, but commands good attention at 3s 9d Ihe 3s lOd. Slightly shrivelled and clean broken are about 2d to 3d below above rates. Chicken wheat is scarce at 2s lid to 3s 2d. Consumers have had to he satisfied to a great extent with seconds barley, which has accordingly eased to demands. Oats are coming to hand but slowly, and last week’s prices are fully maintained. Milling are scarce, and 2s 3d would be willingly given for bright heavy samples. Short feed are in request for shipping at 2s 2d to 2s 2£d. Danish and Tartars are principally dependent on local consumption for an outlet, at Is lid to 2s Id, according to quality. Barley—Prime malting has a slightly better tone, and parcels can bo placed at 3s Id to 3s 3d, Second quality, however, is rather hard to quit at over 2s ICH. Feeding lines are saleable at 2s 3d to 2s 4d. Blue peas (true to name) am enquired for at 3s lOd to 4s, but mixed split lots are hard to place at over 3s G 1 to 3s 7d. Feed kinds are are moving oft' at 2s lid to 3s, and beans are worth 3s, with few offering. Ryegrass and cocksfoot still nraain inactive, at last quotatons. Potatoes are very quiet ; large quantities are known to iiave perished, and present prices are beyond shippers’ limits, consequently what business is doing is for local requirements, for which 55-s has beer, given at country stations, sacks extra. Kidneys have a passing enquiry for seed at £3. Dairy produce is without alteration on last week’s values.

CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKETS. At tho Addington market on Wednesday, considering the inclement weather, the various markets for fat stock were well supplied. Store stock wasonly a middling entry. The attendance, from the same cause, was not up to the average. Fat cattle —A largo supply, some being of veiy good quality. Demand very dull at first, improving ns time advanced. No alteration to record in values. Steers sold at from £5 to £7 1.7 s 61, and iu two cases £8 15s and £lO 10s was paid. Heifers sold at from £3 15s to £6 ss, fat cows £4 7s Od, to £7 ss, being from 18s to 19s prr 10011 s. Store Oaitte—A small entry, and but little business doing. Duty stock 1 kewise. Fat Sheep A fairly good entry, some ve’y good quality. Demand augmented by buyers for export. Best quality crossbred wethers from 9s 31 to 12s 6d, medium sorts 8s to 9s, crossbred ewes from 6s 3d tj 8s 9d, merino wethers at 3s 6d to 6s 9d, being from l£d to l|d per lb, according to qua'ity. Store Sheep—A moderate entry. No public sales made. Pigs Not such a heavy entry as of la(e. Some very good sorts of baconers offering. Demand very lukewarm. Baconers sold at from 26s to 435, porkers from 11s to 16», A few fat lambs sold at from 3s to 4» 6d per head.
DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS
The following is tho report tor the week ending Wednesday r Wheat- Prime parcels command most attention, end are firm at the following quotations Tuscan, 4s to 4s 2d ; velvet 3s lOd to 4s Id ; other fair milling sorts, 3s 9;! to 4s ; inferior milling, 3s 7d to 3a 8d ; fowls’ wheat,'2f lid to 3s 6d, according to quality. Oats—Fine milling, 2s Id to 2s 2d ; short bright feed, 2s to 2s Id; useful short feed, Is 10rl to Is ll|d; inferior, la 6d to Is 9d, Some superior tinea of seed oats have bean taken up at 2s 9d to 2 s 10d.
Barley—Milling and feed may be qnofol at 2s 3d to 2s 9d.
Potatoes —Dorwents, 55s to 60s per ton; kidneys, £4.
Chaff—(lood, £3 15s ; ordinary, £3 5s to £3 10s.
Butter— Fresh is in short supply at la Id ; medium, Is ; salt is dull at 9d to 9|d.
Cheese— 6d per lb for best quality. Eggs— 2.s 3d per dozen, but sales slow. Turnips—Quiet, at 21s per ton. Carrots —40s per too.
Sheepskins—At Monday’s sale crossbreds sold at Is to 3s 4d ; merinos, 9d to 2s lid ; lambs, 2s to 2s 9d ; pelts, 2Jd to lid.
Hides— I There are buyers for all offering at recent quotations. Tallow—Prime mutton is worth £l7 to £lB ; medium and infeiior, £l2 to £ls; rough fat, 9s. DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS. At the Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following business was transacted : Eat Cattle—26l were yarded. A few pens were prime, the rest medium down to little better than stores. Bidding was very slack, prices all through ruling 10s to 20s per ton below last week, a few pons having to be turned out unsold. Bullocks fetched £3 7s Gel to £9 10s; cows, £2 15s to £7 17s 6d.— Wriglr, Stephenson and Co. sold several head for Mr P. H. McShane at quotations. Fat Sheep—A largo supply to hand comprising 350, merino wethers in fair condition and 2425 crof-sbreds, fully half of which were m prime order. Best _ crossbreds sold at 8s to 11 s 6d ; others 5s 3d to 7a 9d ; merino wethers 5s to 7s Cd.—Donald Slrouach sold fur Mr iV. Grant (Timaru), crossbred owes from 8s to 9s 3d.—Wright, Stephenson and Co. sold for Mr Walter Hartnell (Rakaia), .161 crossbred ewes at 10s ; for Mr J. Merry (Makikihi), 64 crossbreds at from 6s 8d to 9s 6d.—L. Maclean sold for Mr M. Studholme (Waimate Estate), 91. crossbred owes from 7s 3d to 8? 6d.
Fat Lambs—4lo were penned, mostly inferior quality ; prices weje low, and ranged from 2s 6d Jb 7a 3d. Pigs—L. Maclean sold for Mr M. Studbolme (Waimate Estate), 30 bacon pigs at 30s to 365; for Mr F’. M. Rickman (Waimate), 28 bacon pigs (heavy weights) at 30s to 56s (top price).
Horses—Wright, Stephenson and Co. quote first-class draughts from £27 to £3O ; medium £l6 to £22 ; light aud aged, £8 to £l2 ; good strong carriage and light harness horses, £ls to £2O ; medium, £lO to £l2; light and weedy sorts, £1 to £5. New Zealand wheat, 4s 31 per bushel ; New Zealand oats, 2s 6d ; maize, per 56ibs, 3s 6d ; Sugar Companj’s No. 1 pieces, £22 per ton ; pollard, Is 6d per bushel ; potatoes, 65s per ton, ENGLISH MARKETS. Wheat is still drooping. Quotations are—Ex warehouse, 35s ; off-coast cargoes, 35s Gd. The quality of recent arrivals has been somewhat interior,to the previous shipments. One cargo has been sold for 365. Jhe weather is favorable tor harvest.
Thu wool market is fiira. Eighteen thousand bales have been sold since the last auction, chiefly for exfort to France. There is a prospect of a slight advance m prices at the next i»le»
