AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT.
TIMARU. Messrs Jonas and Bourn report for *he week ended Saturday as follows :
Pleasant Point Saleyards.—v/e held onr regular monthly sales at these yards on Monday last, the 7th inst. There was quite an average entry of stock. The attendance was good, and we sold 60 fat wethers at Bs, 60 do 10s fid, 81 fat ewes 6s 2d, 52 fat sheep 7s lOd, 70 do do 6s Id, 197 ewes in lambs 4s, 129 2-tooth ewes in lamb 3s 4d, 121 ewes in lamb 4s 6d, 196 merino ewes Is 3d, 120 2-tooth wethers 4s fid, 85 do do (cul’s) 2s 6d, 249 do do 3s, 280 crossbred lambs 3s, 187 do do 3s Id, and 6 rams 7« 6d to 14s. There were 90 bead of cattje yarded, chiefly consisting of young stores and dry cows, with a few fat cattle, but the majority of the entries found purchasers as follows ; Fat steers and heifers £4 10s to £6 fis, steers and heifers (2 to 3 years) from £llss to £4 fis, calves and yearlings 9s 6d to 255, milch cows in milk and springing from £3 7s 6d to £5 fis, dry cows £1 10s to £2 10s. Pies ; Good stores from 7s 6d to 12s 6d.
Wool and Skins—We held our regular sale on Thursday, the 9th. The catalogue comprised 2836 skins, 9 bags, and 1 bale of pi* ces. Factory skins brought 3s, butchers’ crossbreds 2s 6d, 2s 8d to 2s 10d, do merinos Is 6d to 2s 6d, country skins Is, Is 4d, Is 8d to 3s 3c, bags locks lsd, bags and bale pieces 2jd to4u.
Horses—There was an average number ot entries at our bazaar to-day, principally inferior hacks and medium draught horses. We quote Heavy draughts from £l7 to £24, medium do £9 to £l6, light harness sorts and hacks according to age and quality. TIMARU PRODUCE MARKETS. The Canterbury Farmer*’ Co-operative Association, Limited, give the following quotations, being, in moat cases, based on actual sales
Wheat—Prime Tuscan and velvet, 4a Id to 4s 2d; red chaff, Ss lid to 4s; shrivelled, Id to 2d lower ; fowl corn (scarce), 3s 2d to 3s 3d. Oats—Prime heavy milling, 2a to 2s Id; short bright feed, Is lid to 2a ; inferior, Is 9J to Is lid; bright heavy Danish, Is 9d to is lOd ; inferior, Is 7d to Is 9d. Barley—Malting (nominal), 2* 6d to 2s 9d ; feed qualities, 2s to 2* 3d. Potatoes—Prime Derwonts, 80s per ton, sacks included.
Butter—Prime kegged, Is to Is OJd, f.0.b., kegs extra. The above grain quotations are ex store or in trucks, Timaru.
