THE KIMBERLEY GOLDFIELD.

Melbourne, May 26. The first full ship for Kimberley goldfields was despatched from Melbourne when the s.s. Kbandsll* left Port Mel* bourne for King’s Sound, via Sydney. The Kuand alia brought forty through passengers from Adelaide, and over "~A

thirty were booked from Melbourne. The passengers are nearly all young men, and most of them am of the laboring classes. Their outfits are generally fairly complete, sad several of those on board have capital to invest in the Kimberley district if the goldfields prove a success.

News has been received from Derby stating that Hall and Slattery’s party have found another large nugget of 2Poz. The s.s. Nemnr had reached there with a number of fully equipped diggers aboard. Further particulars have been received from the diggings. There ere about AGO miners on the field who have gone from Derby, and 300 who have gone from Cambridge Gulf. Derby is the cheapest place for supplies. The gold at Brockman’s Creek, a tributary of the Elvina, is scattered about in small patches. There is no water within three miles of the diggings now, and in the dry season there is nont within six miles. Indications of gold have been found 100 miles nearer Derby. The diggers are very reticent, and the present information is insufficient to warrant (he supposition that it is a permanent field, or sufficient to Justify a big rush. Intending diggers should land with at least £IOO, to get an outfit for a three or four months’ trip.
