MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The usual meeting of tbe Board was held last Friday evening. Present— The Hon. J. B. A. Acland (Chairman), Messrs 0. G. Tripp, G. J. Dennistoun, and R. Thew. The minutes of lapt meeting having hem read and confirmed, and the Overseer's report read, the following tenders for improving Andrews' Creek, Or«ri Gorge, were opened : F. Dierek, £25 ; Eugene O'Connor, £l4; Jacob Lefrantz, £l3 15-; Robert Burnett, £6 10s (accepted). Amongst the correspondence opened were final proposals from the Geraldine County Council relating to the Opihi Bridge for the consideration of the Board.—The Overseer was directed to accept these proposals, this Board agreeing to pay one-third, leaving 'Le Council and the Levels Road Board two-thirds of the cost of the new bridge. Complaints of the state of the road to R. McMillan's sections, Orari Gorge, and of the damage done by fl-ods at Blair's corner, were received.—The Overseer was directed to see to these matters. It was resolved to tender for cariing metal on to the road from .•omer to the finger post?. The repairs wanted from the corner to Peel Forest being only trifling, it was decided that ihey be done by the Board's horse and cart. Proposed by the Chairman, secrnded by Mr Tripp, and curried—" That a rate of one farthing in the £ be struck." Several accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
