TIMARU PRODUCE MARKETS. The Canterbury Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Limited, report for the week ended 14th inst. as follows :—- No transactions of importance can ba noted, owners showing an inclination to hold back their offers pending a further development of the market. Enquiries are still coming forward for prime Tuscan wheat for export, and for this top rates are offered. Velvet and red chaff are in fair demand at quotations. Good whole fowl corn is exceedingly scarce, and difficulty is experienced in executing orders. Oats—Bright heavy Canadians are enquired for, but owners seem disinclined to accept buyers’ offers. Long feed sorts are a shade weaker, lower rates ruling at other centres limiting transactions here to spot requirements. Barley—Quotations remain nominal in'tho absence of enquiries. Potatoes are coming forward very slowly, and until the weather admits of deliveries being made to a larger extent, business in these must be restricted. They have enquiries for prime Derwenta at quotations. Butter—Prime kegged shows a slight improvement, but supplies are fully equal to the demand. Their quotations are— Wheat—Prim Tuscan, 3s 4d to 3s 4£d ; velvet, 3s 3£d to 3s 4d ; red chaff, 3s2£d to Ss 3d ; fowl wheat, good whole, 3a to 3s 2d ; broken, 2s 9dJto 3s. Oats—Prime heavy Canadians, 2s Id to 2s 2d ; short bright feed, 2a to 2s Id ; Danish, Is B£d to la Jo£d. Bailey—Nominal, 2s 6d to 2s 9d for malting. Potatoes—Derwents, 50s to 555, f.0.b., sacks included. Butter—Fresh, lid; prime kegged, lid to 12£d, kegs extra. The above grain quotations are ex store or on trucks at Timaru. AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. TIMARU. Mr E. R. Guinness (for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Limited ) reports for the week ended Friday, May 14lh, 1886, as follows Cattle.—He quoted prime beef from 17s to 18s per lOOlbs with a short supply, medium about 15s, with a large quantity offering. At Studholme Junction he sold, on account of Mr M. Studholme, 24 head prime quality bullocks at £8 12s 6d per head all round.

Sheep—A few lots changed hands, but tho majority of entry was withdrawn. Mutton may bo quoted at lfd to ljd per lb. As the demand for freezing and local requirements is not likely to be very great during the winter months, he predicts the value of fat sheep will not be materially increased, except we have au unusually severe winter.

Skins.—At the fortnightly sale held on Wednesday last, he had a catalogue of about 2000 skins, which brought the following pricesßest butchers' crossbreds Is 9d to 2a, second quality Is 3d to Is Bd, merinos, Is to Is 3d, factory skins from 2a 3d to 2a 7d, the latter price being obtained for a nice lot on account of Mr A. L. Barker, Mr W. S. Armilage’a bringing 2s 3d, country lots from Is 6d to 3s. Hides—Quotations are as follow : 50lb 4jd, 50!b to 601 b 4d, light and inferior from 3d to 3£d per lb. At the above prices prices he has quitted about 100, Messrs Jonas and Bourn report for the week ended Saturday as follows Horses—They can report a little improvement in the demand for good plough horses. Their entry was a large one, comprising animals of nil classes, and although they placed all heavy sorts and plough horses entered with them, they were not able to supply the wants of all their customers. Altogether, they sold 14 head, and quote heavy draughts from £l4 to £22, medium do, £9 to £l4, light harness and hacks, according to age, stamp, and quality. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, May 14. There is a slight improvement-in*' maize and New Zealand oafs, but no alteration in the value of wheat. Today’s quotations are—New Zealand wheat, 3s 4d per bushel ; New Zealand oats, 2d dearer, 2s fid «per bashel ; maize, 4s 5d per 561bs. Sugar Company’s No, I pieces, £25 per ton. Adelaide, 'May 14, Shipping wheat is firm at 4s 5d to 4s 7d per bashel ; town flour is worth £9 5s per ton ; country brands, £9 5s to £9 7s fid. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, May 15. The wheat market is inanimate, prices are unchanged. The cargo by the Anna has been sold at 35s fid. All wool shipments arrived up to the present will be available for the third series of sales.
