Melbourne, May 12. The Commission of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Ohuroh of Victoria brought its annual session to a close on Friday last. The assembled ministers and elders expressed their approval of the action taken by the Heathen Missions Committee in protesting against the proposed annexition of the New Hebrides by France, A large meeting was held at the Odd? fellows' Hall, Warrnambool, to express sympathy with the Home Rule proposals of Mr Gladstone, and resolutions to that effect were carried by a large majority. A serious railway oollitiion occurred yesterday on the Southern line, nonr Bowrjwe, eighty miles from Sydnoy. A tourist train from Sydney and an up goods train ran into each other. The locomotive of the 1 tourist train lifted the other engine,

threw the tender off the line, and two of the carriages wire telescoped. Fifteen persons were injured by .the accident, but no loss of life it expected. The French steamer Sun Mnrtin, from Havre, has put into Newcast'e. She has on board prisoners for ftoumen. The Sun Martin is the first of the regular line chartered by the French Government fo" the transport service at intervals of six months.
