SOUTH CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB v , RACES. The first day’s meeting of the South Canterbury Club’s Autumn Races took place on the Timaru Racecourse yesterday. The first part of the day was cold and dull with occasiosal showers, but in the ajternoen it cleared up. The attendance was limited. The booths were under competent management and did a good business, and the “ little game ” men had a fair time of it. The course was heavy. The following are the results : Timaeu Hurdle Race, a Handicap of 80 sovb, added to a sweepstake of 2 sova each for acceptors. Horses competing for this race must have been owned and trained by residents of South Canterbury., viz., between the Rangitata and Waitaki rivors, four months previous to date of meeting.
