ASHBURTON MARKETS.

Mr E. G. Stavely, for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, reports on the Ashburton stock sales on Tuesday as follows : About 3000 sheep and small supplies of pigs and cattle were yarded. The attendance was less than usual, and little interest was taken in the sale, Pat crossbred ewes realized 8s 5d ; do mixed sizes, 7s to 7s 3d; fat merino ewes, 8s 2d ; cull do, Is to Is 5d ; aged crossbred do, Is lid ; 2-tontb crossbreds, 4s ; medium crossbred lambs, 2s 3d, 2s 5d to 3s Id. There was little demand for pigs or cattle, and transactions nere purely nominal. Very few fat cattle were to band, Forward good springers made £6 17s 6d a piece, AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, May 4, The Melbourne Manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand (Limited) reports on the local markets as follows: Shipping wheat is in good demand at 5s 3d per bushel. Malting barley ia quiet at 3s 6d to 4a 3I- New Zealand oats—Peed sorts are slightly improved, though inferior lots are below last week’s prices. To-day’s quotations are 2s 8d to 3s for milling oata, prime do 3s Id to 3s 3d. New Zealand oats under bond are quoted at 2s 31 to 2s Gd per bushel, ENGLISH MARKETS. London, May 3, Tho wool market remains quiet. Por the next colonial wool auctions 240,000 bales have arrived to date.
