ADDRESS TO LABORERS.
XO THE EWIOB. you kiudiy give a space in your valuable paper for me to addre& the laborers of New Zealand on a most important question, which, if carried out properly will place them in the highest position attainable. I saw in your issue of the X7th a letter on “The Laborer and the Trades.” I highly commend the writer of it. It is a step iu the right direction. I hope it will be taken up. by all the laborers in New Zealand. If (he laborers unite and choose the men that are not afraid to make their voices heard in any assembly, and will not desert the cause they are expected to defend, they will be represented on every Board, and then
they will get something like fair play, Wake up you laborers of New Zealand and put in men of your own stamp. Begin and put in two on the Road Board ; form yourselves into a Committee! and go to the polling booth and record your votes for the two only, and do not do as you have done—put men over you that will treat you with silent contempt. They are not the sort of men. Have any of them ever done one good thing for the laborers? No ! They are rocked in the cradle of luxury, and have had collegian oducatiod ; They can no more legislate for the poor man than I can be a gentleman. INot one has ever done one thing worth recording. Laborers unite, for “ unity is strength.” Wehave the majority, and if true to qurselres we must and will win. We ..must arouse ourselves, and make time to go andrecord our votes for our two men, and show the “upper ten.” that we are in earnest, and do not intend to trust io them any longer. Ws have tried petitions and letters, and all to .no purpose. Laborers come for wardlike men and assert your rights, and show the world that you have energy and will use it.—l sin, etc., G. Edgelee, B.C.A.
