COURSING.
The opening meeting of the season by the booth Canterbury Coursing Club was held at Pureora last Wednesday. The attendance was good. Hares were plentiful, but fast, and very few kills occurred, Thirteen dogs entered for the and thirteen for the Puppy Stakes. Mr* W, Chatteris acted as judge, and gave every satisfaction. The following ,are the results Puppy Stakes, Winner, £10; runner up, £5 ; two dogs, 50s each -£5; less 10 per cent. Mr S. Oague’s bk d Regnant best Mr Ross’ w and r b Fair Helene, and won tbe stake. Mr T. R. Jones’ Kauri, and I). M. Ross’ Montefiore each take 60s, Alj>Aged Stakes, winner, £l2; runner- ' up‘, £f|; two dogs §(|s each, £5 ; less 10 per cen|;. Mr D. M. Rosa’ f b Starlight, by Totir» —Luna, beat Mr Mahoney’s r d Tit Bit**, by Musket—-Nancy, and won the stakes. Mr J. J.GemmiU’s Gfipsy Afaid, amj Sfr J. McGimpsey’s Swift take the 60s prises.
