The Privy Council has decided in favor of the Queensland Assembly Money Bills.
April 7. Mr Murray-Smith has declined his proferrel knighthood. Matterson has issued a challenge to row a match on the Thames for the championship.
The elections have resulted in a victory for the Liberals. Intelligence has been received from the West Coast of Africa stating that the Germans have bombarded Bimbia, which was formally annexed by the Germans under the late Dr Nachtigal in September, 1884. The natives of the district have proved hostile to Germans, and refused at the time of the annexation to give their allegiance to the Imperial officer. Mr J. P. Currie, Governor of the Bank of England, has left on a visit to America.
A feeling of itritation prevails in Canada regarding the settlement of the fisheries dispute.
A collective note from the Great Powers has been forwarded to Greece notifying the signature of the protocol dealing with the Roumelian difficulty. In conveying the information, the Powers strongly urge Greece to abandon any warlike intention, it is believed that Prince Alexander of Bulgaria will acquiesce in the terms of the protocol, and accept the Governorship of Iloumelia for a period of five years. It is currently stated that LieutenantGeDeral Sir Charles Mitchell will probably succeed Sir George Des Veaux as Governor of Fiji. The ship Bettermere, which left Port Augusta on November 19th for London and is now 138 days out, has been reinsured at a premium of 35 guineas. The Aborigines' Protection Society has thanked Sir G. W. Des Veaux for the services he rendered to the cause of humanity in the Pacific.
Mr R. H. Want states that the Governments of Hawaii, America, and Canada have promised to support tho Pacific cable syndicate, and have guaranteed two millions towards the cost ol construction, which the company will accept. Mr Want proposes to open negotiations with Messrs Mackay and Bennett for the ,use of their Atlantic cable. It is expected that the rates will be 4s 6d a word for public, and Js 3d for Press, messages. The City and Suburban Handicap, of 500 sovs,, 1£ miles, was won by Mr Cbildwick's Royal Hampton, Lord Ellesmere's Highland Chief second, and Mr Martou's Lovely third. Belgrade, April 6.
M. Res6eß has withdrawn from the task of forming a new Cabinet. King Milan has recalled M. Garashanui, the last Premier.
AUSTRALIAN CABLE.
Melbourne, April 7.
The Premier, tha Hon. D. Gillies, has received a despatch from Mr J. B. Thurston, Acting-Governor of strongly deprecating the French annexation of the New Hebrides, and declaring the possession of Rapa as no compensation for the loss.
The trial of the defaulting officials of the Commercial Bank of South Australia was concluded to-day, when Crooks, the manager, was sentenced to eight years' imprisonment, Wilson, the accountant, receiving six years, April 8. The Tarawera arrived from the Bluff this morning.
Sydney, April 7.
The Colonial Treasurer in his Financial Statement last night estimates the revenue for the coming year at £8,340,000, and the expenditure at £8,570,000, the latter being a reduction of £540,000 on the previous estimates, A proposal is made to extend the exemption of the limit from the income tax to £IOOO a year, but its consideration is adjourned till Tuesday next.

The trial of Captain Sorenson, master of the schooner Doure, tor malpractices connected with island labor trade, was conc'uded to-day, and accused sentenced to ten years' penal servitude.
