THE BOUNDARY ROAD.
TO THE EDITOR. Sot,-— Kindly insert the following reBarks. In your report of the monthly meet-ing-of the Terruka Road Board it is stated Maura Budd and Plumber interviewed the Board objecting to the opening of the boundary road which runs through their property near MrDeßenzy's farm, stating the road was unnecessary. Now, sir, Mr Deßenzy ia the largest employer of labor in our district, and there are five or aix families' living .on the reserve within twenty minutes walk of his place if the road was opened. It now takes an hour to walk to Mr Deßenzy's. I have been working there for the last six months, alio one of my neighbers, and we biv« got amployment there for tkree months to come. I wonder if Messrs Bund and Plomber would like to watte io much time on the road. I got up a petition, signed by five ratepayers, to open the, road last January, which I asked Mr Deßeney to present to the Geraldine Road Board, but be did not attend the meeting of the Board on February so it was not presented till March, when the Board agreed to do its share, intimating the same to the Temuka Board. I fail to see how that can be a matter of jealousy —as stated by one of the members of the Board. And, as for Mr Bisiett'a remarks, I never saw him in the district, so he cannot form any good estimate of our requirements.—l am, etc., William Bin. , April 8, 1883.
