London, March 9. The Queensland loan is quoted at 3 per cent, premium.

In the House of Commons to-day, Mr L. L. Dillwyn, member for Swansea, brought forward a motion for the disestablishment of the State Church in Wales. A division was taken, with the result that the motion was rejected by 241 votes to 229. Sneaking on the subject, Sir William Vernon Uarcourt strongly concurred in the motion in the abstract, but the whole thing was so interwoven with the standing English Church that it was impossible to deal with them separately. The mails ex s.s. Valetla, from Melbourne (January 28th), were delivered here to-day, via Brindisi. March 10.

Herr Just Travers has been appointed German Consul-General in Australia.

Prince Bismarck is suffering from an attack of acute rheumatism.

The Pall Mall Gazette states that the Hampton tragedy at Coburg is no reason for their regretting the “ revelations ” published by them, and which a Melbourne paper asserts was the cause of the tragedy. Tenders for the city of Melbourne loan of £150,000, at 4 per cent., were opened to-day. The amount subscribed was £400,000, and tenderers at £lO3 lls 6d will receive about 50 per cent. ; above that in full. The minimum was fixed at £lO3.

The Paris Temps urges the French Government to annex the New Hebrides, giving assurance that no rdcidivistes will be deported. The ship Moss Head, bound from Sydney to Portland (Oregon), and now considerably o\erdue, has been posted at Lloyds ns missing.

A report is current to-day that a serious railway collision occurred at Mentone, in Riviere, Twenty people are stated to have been killed, including a number of English visitors. The rumor, however, lacks positive confirmation.

It is announced that Admiial Schlinitz has been appointed Governor of the German territory in New Guinea. Prince Bismarck is suffering from rheumatism, which is increasing in violence.

Mrs Hampton and her three daughters have been committed for trial for the murder of the younger daughter of the family on January 26th.

Communications are passing between the Premier, the. Governor, and the adjoining colonies, with a view of con yoking a conference, to meet at Melbourne, to discuss the advisability of adopting the scheme put forward by Admiral Tryon for the defence of the colonies. It is understood, however, that the members of the Victorian Government generally are unfavorable to the plan in question.

A meeting of the Presbytery, held Irtßt night, resolved, after an acrimonious debate, that the Presbytery -diould not sustain the call of the Rev. Mr Dodds to the pastorship of the Scots Church, in consequence of his connection with the recent rebellious proceedings on the part of that Church.
