London, Feb. 23.
The British Foreign Office has addressed a reminder to the French GoTernment, calling attention to the agreement in force between the two countries with regard to maintaining neutral a portion of the New Hebrides group, the existence of which agreement France fully admits. Lord Granville reassured the colonial Agents-General !on the subject, and requested them to refer the question to the various colonial Governments, as be says he can take no action without consulting them.
Mr Fowler has submitted the definite proposals of the Australian colonies with regard to the establishment of a parcels post.
Mr Richard Threefall, lecturer on physics at Caius College, Cambridge, has been appointed Professor of Physics at the Sydney University. A shipment of herring ova will be forwarded by the Ruapehu in March.
Ibe exhibits o£ wines and beer from Victoria, intended for the Indian and Colonial Exhibition, have arrived in splendid condition. Later.
As an outcome of tbe representations made to Lord Granville by the AgentsGeneral respecting the New Hebrides, the former has requested the Agents to forward to their respective Governments a secret despatch on the subject, The Agents consider the assurance they have received from Lord Granville highly satisfactory. Feb. 24.
The statement that Great Britain intends parleying with Germany for the cession of territory at New Guinea is not yet confirmed.
Prince Napoleon has issued a manifesto protesting against the expulsion of the Princes from France.
Tbe Agents-General for the colonies, tbe various Chambers of Commerce in England, and the Victorians now resident in London have arranged to give a farewell banquet to MurraySmith on the occasion of his returning to Victoria. The data has not been definitely fixed, but it will take place some time at tbe commencement of April. Lord Salisbury, who has been in indifferent health lately, has been ordered abroad by his medical advisers.
Tbe Socialist leaders were again brought up for examination to-day, a»d further remanded till Saturday next.

In the Legislative Assembly to-day, Sir Patrick Jennings stated a hitch had occurred in the formation of the Ministry, owing to the difference of opinion as
to who should hold the portfolio of Attorney-General. Sir Patrick Jennings informed the House, however, that he would continue the task of forming a Ministry without the aid of the Robertson party. The House then adjourned until Thursday, Albany, FA. 24. Arrived, in King George’s Sound, this morning— R.M.S. Rome, with the English mails to January 22nd.
