RIFLE MATCH.
Tho team representing tho Geraldine Rifle corps in their match against tho Timaru and Wnimate Rifle corps fired on Tuesday afternoon. The weather was not very favorable, the sky being cloudy and dark most of the lime, and just before the lust ranges was fired over a thick, misty rain came ou, which spoilt the chances of good scores being made. The conditions of the match were: Wimbledon targets and scoring, seven shols at each range, any position, distances 200, 300, and 500 yards. Lieut, Ward was top with an euen score of 62, and Private G, Bethuns, who shot very well at the first and last ranges, came next with 58. Corporal Hardcastlo spoilt what might have been a good score through failing to flub the elevation at the long range. Corporal Bethune and Private Newpoit made fair scores at the firt-t range. It will bo seen that Timaru won the match by 102 points, Waimate being second, and Geraldine third. The following are the full scores: TIMARU RIFLES.
