PARISH GATHERING.

The annual parish gathering and Bundav School treat in connection with St. Mary's Episcopalian Church, Geraldine, was held in the Domain yesterday. The weather was all that could be desired for the occasion, the beat of the sun being tempered by * veil of light clouds, and a cool southeasterly breesse—which blew all . the afternoon—was quite refreshing. -The attendance was large, there more people from the country districts of the parish than last year. About two o'clock parties began to arrirt on the gronnd, and at half-past four there were still many «a the roads making for the scene of the day's festivities. At four o'clock the children were seated in a large ring, and a plentiful supply of refreshments were handed round to them by tb« ladies, who were assiduous in their attentions to the little ones. After tea races were carried out for the children by the Rev. Jas. Preston, assisted by tho Rev. Mr Holland and Mr Hughei, the prizes being a number of toys, etc. The elder people indulged in all kinds of games—the usual ring games, and rounders and cricket. A refreshment table was erected, in which refreshments were dispensed for the grown-Hp people, the tables being presided orer by Mm Preston, assisted by Mrs Totton, Mrs and the Misses Hawkes, Mrs Brisco, and Mn Campbell. The catering was done by Messrs J, Williams and Son, who, as usual, carried out their duties faithfully. Mr and Mrs Preston were undefatigable in their efforts to make the gathering a success, and they were materially assisted on the grounds with the children by the Rev. Mr Holland, who took great interest in the proceedings. Everyone appeared to be thoroughly enjoying the gathering, and it should prove to be one of the most successful held in connection with Bt. Mary's Church.
