TEMUKA WOOL SALE. Mr K. F. Gray held his second wool sale ot the season at his wool and grain stores, i’emuka, on Wednesday, 13th dan., when a very fair catalogue, consisting of 120 bales and 50 bags were submitted, and with the exception of one lot of 8 bales all were cleared at satisfactory prices. The trade was well represented, despite the ring which was formed among the large merchants and buyers of Christchurch and foreign buyers to do away with country sales. Considering the class of wool submitted, it was acknowledged at tbe sale both by buyers and sellers that higher prices were obtained than at either the late Timaru or Christchurch wool sales. Merino brought from 5d to breds, from to 7|; pieces, to will take place about tbe beginning of February. In tending wool into his store for sale, farmers save considerable expense, the railage to Timaru and 2s 6d per bale charged by the auctioneers to the buyer is done away with, thus allowing the buyers to give at least one-eighth of a penny per lb. more. TIMARU WOOL SALES. Tbe second wool sale of the season was held at Timaru on Tuesday. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report Their second sale of the season was held on Tuesday, and was very successful. Only a few lots were passed in. There was a large attendance of buyers and farmers, and, on tbe whole, prices rnled rather higher than at last sale. They submitted a catalogue of 360 bales and 62 bags, and obtained tbe following prices :—Greasy Half-bred, 6|d to B|d, crossbred, s|d to 7£d ; merino, s£d to 6|d ; pieces, Id to 4d ; locks, o|d to 2£d. Scoured—Pieces, 8d to B|d ; locks, 6|d. Tbe Canterbury Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Limited, report as follows: —The second series of wool sales was held on Tuesday, when they submitted a catalogue comprising 208 bales and 104 bags, of which they succeeded in placing 181 bales and the whole of tbe bags. The attendance of buyers was larger than at the previous sale, and each lot met with keen competition. Tbe prices obtained may be considered very satisfactory, as high as B£d being given for half-bred, which, they may mention, was the top price offered during the sales for this description of wool.
